LEON'S VISION

Leon Russell built 3 studios in Oklahoma in the early 1970's...

1. A home studio in Tulsa

2. A converted church on 3rd Street which became The Church Studio and home to Shelter Records.

3. And Paradise Studio at Grand Lake in Tia Juana, Oklahoma

All were for the artists on his rapidly growing Shelter Records. The lake studio saw some of his Shelter Artists and some very famous friends

THE STUDIO

Paradise Studio was a compound built in the early 1970's by Leon Russell, famous for his work as a member of the Wrecking Crew as well as his work with Joe Cocker as a part of Mad Dogs and Englishmen and went on to be a solo artist that helped shaped the Tulsa Sound.

Paradise Studio was designed to be just that - a recording studio from the ground up. It was designed by Roger Linn, inventor of the Linn drum that changed recording forever.

As well as the many artists that recorded at Paradise, other visitors included George Harrison, Ringo Starr and up and coming singer/songwriter Jerry Lynn Williams.

THE GROUNDS

The compound includes four structures:

A seven bedroom house, a four bedroom house and a one bedroom house with a loft, plus the 4,000 square foot studio with 20' ceilings. All this being located on an 8 acre peninsula at Grand Lake of the Cherokees in the heart of rural Green Country Oklahoma. It is a one hour drive from Tulsa International Airport.

Some of the biggest names in music history have recorded in and visited this piece of music history!
